Program
The event is held on the grounds of a private, waterfront estate next door to Garden Bay Pub. Admission is free and all proceeds go to local charity.
- By noon, entrants have their gorgeous vehicles displayed for judging by spectators.
- Pick up your ballot at the main table to vote for entries in seven categories by age (age of vehicle, not owner) plus Best of Show for both car and motorcycle.
- Submit your Prize Draw entry (you’ll get this with your ballot— our thank-you for your help in making this event a success). Random prize draws are held throughout the day.
- Enjoy live music, on the grounds and inside the pub.
- Buy a raffle ticket for Same Church, a Walters original painting created for this year’s Pender Harbour Show & Shine.
- Talk to the vehicle owners. They’re proud of their entries and happy to tell you about them. This kind of information is also helpful in deciding how to place your vote.
- Take the little kids for a Texada Island Hillbuggy ride with Skinny Jimmy Dougan. These remarkable hillbuggies are entirely hand-built, carved from solid wood and lovingly finished with exceptional attention to detail.
- Take a lunch break at the pub, around the corner at Laverne’s Grill, or find a shady spot on the lawn to enjoy something from the Rotary Club barbecue.
- Pick up a souvenir Pender Harbour Show & Shine t-shirt at the main table and browse local art and crafts in the Alley of the Arts.
- By 4 pm, the ballots are counted and the winners are announced.
- By 5 pm, show vehicles must leave the grounds, but you don’t have to. Drop in at Garden Bay Pub or Restaurant —both have outdoor, waterfront decks— for a bite to eat and a cool drink... it’s going to be a warm, sunny day, we promise!
- The rest of the weekend? Don’t miss Coasters Car Club’s annual Sleepy Hollow Rod Run, Car Show & Drag Races.
